The Rise of AI and the Impact of Gemini “Nano Banana”
In recent years, artificial intelligence has emerged as a transformative force across various industries, rapidly advancing from conceptual frameworks to practical applications. I’ve created a lot of content around Drupal AI over at https://drupalhelps.com. Among the many innovations driving this revolution is the “Nano Banana,” an amazing AI solution developed under Google’s Gemini project (it’s actually Gemini Flash 2.5).

It might be the most versatile image generator currently available. If you’re in marketing or product photography, you may have just lost your job.

I asked the AI to create a product shot of a jar of vegemite (provided) in a kitchen with bread, butter, a plate and knife (not provided). In under 10 seconds I had this:
The lighting is excellent. There are even crumbs under the bread on the counter. And here’s a thought: this is the worst it will ever be. It’s going to get better and easier. Just like Junior Developers (code), photographers might soon be out of a job if they don’t level up their skills.
Here’s another. The original was a selfie of me in my backyard, in a t-shirt. I asked for a LinkedIn style professional makeover and then the product shot with Vegemite. (if you don’t know what Vegemite is - just as ChatGPT).
