2023 Goldwing

I've been riding motorcycles for most of my adult life.  My first bike was a Suzuki 300 that could barely go 55 mph.  Fast forward to today and I'm on my 3rd Goldwing and I've ridden just over 200,000 miles on a bike.

My first "Wing" was an 1984, 1200cc stripped down bike with huge Kawasaki pipes.  Without a doubt, this was the bike that got the most comments and people just coming up to talk about it.

Next was a 2002 gorgeous black Wing - I really loved this bike.  It was easily the most comfortable motorcycle I've owned and I still kind of miss it!  At 900 lbs, you didn't want to drop this thing...

After 100,000 miles, it was time to trade it in for a new one (there was nothing really wrong with it... it would have done 200,000 miles).  So along came the 2023 Goldwing.  I'm pretty sure my local dealer got it in specifically so I would buy it lol. This motorcycle has an automatic transmission, Apple CarPlay, advanced suspension and probably the most uncomfortable seat ever made for a motorcycle, but I just hit 20,000 miles on my way back from DrupalCon Atlanta, and I thought I would share my thoughts.

2023 Goldwing

There’s something uniquely liberating about hitting the open road on two wheels—and I've enjoyed every minute of it (almost).  The 2023 Honda Goldwing is really different - in so many great ways.

The Goldwing has long been the gold standard of touring motorcycles. With its smooth six-cylinder engine, advanced tech, and supreme comfort, it turns long stretches of highway into hours of joy (yep - I really mean that - I've gotten used to the seat).

One of the greatest benefits is the balance between power and luxury. You’ve got plenty of torque for quick passes and mountain climbs, but also heated seats, heated grips, a big fairing, Apple CarPlay, and a windshield that adjusts at the touch of a button. Long days in the saddle don’t feel like a chore—they feel like an escape.  It's so perfectly balance, riding no-hands on an open stretch of highway (with no-one else around of course) is incredibly easy to do.

The 2023 Goldwing isn’t just a bike. It’s a road-trip companion, a conversation starter at rest stops, and a rolling reminder that the journey really is the destination.

If you’ve ever dreamed of seeing the country on two wheels, the Goldwing is, in my opinion, the best way to do it—one scenic mile at a time.

20,000 miles on a Wing is barely broken in!  Here's to the next 80,000!
